Kara Smith, Wedding & Events Coordinator

I joined the Heron Hill team in January 2010. I've been doing the wedding and event coordinating as well as revamping the gift shop. This is a new adventure for me. I have also planned my own wedding as well, which we had here at the winery! Wedding planning is not easy. After much poking and prodding, I finally got my soon to be fiancé to agree on food, flowers and colors. We went with a truffle base and dark purple and burnt orange Dahlia’s. Of course we served steak! We also had a chicken dish and an alfredo pasta with spinach, mushrooms, bacon and crushed black pepper. Yum! My brother in-law is a chef at the Wine and Culinary Center, so he prepared several yummy appetizers. The best part of the whole planning process was getting planning the honeymoon! We spent 10 days in St. Thomas, we went zip lining through the jungle over their gorgeous waterfalls and hiked the state parks. With wedding season creeping up on us, I am looking forward to working with all the newlyweds here at Heron Hill as well as the staff.
