Heron Hill’s Rieslings earn the Chairman’s Gold!

May 12, 2011

Heron Hill’s Rieslings have earned prestigious awards at the Riverside International Wine Competition held in the Temecula wine region east of Los Angeles in California! For 30 years, the Riverside International Wine Competition has provided consumers and the wine industry with carefully considered results of a blind tasting by professional wine evaluators, this year they had 1930 wine submissions. Three of Heron Hill’s wines earned the Chairman’s Gold (unanimously voted Gold); 2008 Ingle Vineyard Riesling, 2009 Semi-Dry Riesling and the 2008 Late Harvest Vidal Blanc. The International Riesling Foundation awarded trophies for Best Rieslings and the 2008 Ingle Vineyard Riesling took home the Dry Wine Trophy. Wine judge, Coke Roth described it as “Gardenia and orchard fruit aromas with light anise and petrol notes. Flavors start out with tart applesauce and minerality; juicy.”

Owner and grapegrower, John Ingle comments, “These delicious wines truly reflect what’s great about Finger Lakes Rieslings and solidify our status as a world-class wine region.”
