Master Sommelier and contributing editor, John Szabo of the Canadian Wine Access Magazine rated the 2005 Ingle Vineyard Riesling with 92 points! John Szabo's reviews:
2005 Ingle Vineyard Riesling - 92. Made by Thomas Laszlo, Canadian-born winemaker with experience both in the Niagara Peninsula and Tokaj, Hungary to vines on Canandaigua Lake. This still has a remarkably pale platinum colour with green tinges - it was clearly made to age. The nose shows an extraordinary purity and minerality I rarely find outside of the best sites in Germany: pristine fresh lime juice, grapefruit, white flowers, apricot stones and light acacia honey overlying wet slate - textbook Riesling. The palate has dazzling acidity rounded out with barely a pinch of residual sugar, though it comes across as essentially dry, particularly on the finish. 12% alcohol gives this a light-medium body and rather ripe but precise flavours, sort of a Rheingau 1st growth meets Alsace Grand Cru. Enjoyable now, but I suspect this will hold well into the next decade. A sheer delight to drink, and a bargain at this price. Light bodied white.
2005 Ingle Vineyard Pinot Noir - 90. Pale garnet red. Delicate, fragrant nose with inviting juicy red berry fruit - raspberry, red currant, pomegranate - and light wood spice with just a hint of smoke and blond tobacco. Dry, light-medium bodied, at first lithe and ethereal, then surprising power kicks in. Tannins are light and silky, will bright acids frame up elegant morello cherry and wild strawberry flavours. Moderate length. Very fine Pinot here with great finesse and elegance, think Volnay or Santenay without any rusticity. Light Bodied red.
