2008 Eclipse Red

Wine Characteristics

Cloves and leather dominate the nose at first, then after some aeration notes of cherry and black currant join in with hints of cracked white pepper. In the palate, the wine has a generous body complemented by notes of toasted oak and tobacco. Supple tannins enhance a smooth and long finish.

Food Pairings

This wine can be enjoyed now with any grilled meat, pasta dish and soft cheeses. Once cellared for a few years, it will pair well with beef stew and blue cheese.

This is an amazing wine. It's one of the best meritage blends I've ever had. Whenever we get within a hundred miles of a Heron Hill shop, we make a deter to stock up on Eclipse Red. The white blend is also very nice.

Eclipse Red is my wife's and my favorite wine and has been since we first had it at the Esperanzia Mansion at their reopening several years ago.

This is a excellent wine that we first had with the 2005 vintage.Every year since has been good.
