91+ Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - Riesling Mothership 2020 – 91+ points – drink 2022-2034 - The 2020 Riesling Ingle Vineyard Mothership Block, another of the interesting brands in this report that I've not seen before, comes in with two grams of residual sugar, nine of total acidity and 13.2% alcohol. This is sourced from the winery's 1972 vines, the original block of Ingle vineyard (hence, the amusing name). It is organically grown but not certified. If I had to make a pick for the best of Heron Hill's group in this report, this would be it. Lush, rich and yet powerful, this dribbles fine fruit over the palate and also shows off good structure. There are hints of complexity, some slate and a stonewashed nuance. The acidity easily supports the fruit, yet the fruit somehow seems in control, at least at this point in the wine's evolution. I did come back to it some six hours later, and it seemed drier and not nearly as fruit-forward. It wasn't, perhaps, quite as interesting. It will be interesting to see how this evolves and what happens when the baby fat disappears. It has the potential to age beautifully and get better.
